Rakell Has Surgery To Correct Complication From Appendectomy
By Michael Walters
This past week, Rickard Rakell was admitted to the hospital for stomach pain he had been experiencing. According to Aftonbladet.se, Rakell had a complication from the surgery for his ruptured appendix last spring. The pain was determined to be a bowel obstruction caused by the previous appendectomy. Apparently, not enough time was allowed for the intestines to heal properly causing the obstruction.
Rakell has been experiencing a good amount of pain causing him to vomit. He had surgery to correct the issue and the intestines are now properly aligned. Rakell has a large patch and several stitches in his abdomen with a wound about 10-15 centimeters in length.
Rakell will not participate in the World Cup of Hockey, as he has to lay down and rest. He is planning to be ready for the Anaheim Ducks first game on October 13 against the Dallas Stars, but only time will tell. Rakell is still a restricted free agent that has yet to re-sign with Anaheim.
