Team Canada won tonight 2-1 beating Team Europe in the World Cup of Hockey best-of-three championship. Canada had trailed 1-0 entering the third period but scored two goals to pull out the victory. Special teams were the key in the final frame as Patrice Bergeron scored the game-tying goal on the power play. Brad Marchand scored shorthanded with just over 40 seconds to go for the eventual game winner.

Anaheim Ducks Captain Ryan Getzlaf three assists in the tournament and Corey Perry scored two goals. With this championship victory, Perry joins Scott Niedermayer as only the second player ever to win six different hockey championships. Both players have won the Stanley Cup, Olympic gold medal, World Championship, World Junior Championship, Memorial Cup, and Canada/World Cup title.

In 2005, Perry made Canada’s WJC team during the NHL lockout and scored seven points to help Canada win the title. Later that season, he helped lead the London Knights to the Memorial Cup. In 2007, he won his only Stanley Cup with the Anaheim Ducks. He then won gold medals with Canada both in Vancouver in 2010 and in Sochi in 2014. He then became the 27th member of the Triple Gold Club (Stanley Cup, Olympic gold, and World Championship) when Canada won the world title last spring. And now in 2016, Perry has won the World Cup title.

Congratulations to Perry, Getzlaf, and the rest of Team Canada!
