Today the Anaheim Ducks announced a series of roster moves. First, they terminated their contract with Mason Raymond. He was assigned to San Diego but never did report. Instead, he returned to Calgary citing family reasons. Raymond was placed on unconditional waivers yesterday and was officially released today. He played four games with Anaheim this season recording no points with an on-ice rating of -2. Per capfriendly.com, the Ducks will not receive any additional cap space by this move.

Jacob Larsson returned to Sweden to play with Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League as part of his contractual obligation. He played in four games with the Ducks recording no points with an on-ice rating of -1. This comes as no surprise with Hampus Lindholm‘s return on the horizon. He is expected to be back next week.

Lastly, Shea Theodore was reassigned to San Diego. According to the Gulls, he will play this weekend against Stockton. Additionally, the Gulls recalled defenseman Brian Cooper from Utah and reassigned goalie Kevin Boyle to Utah.

Practice Report

The Ducks held an optional practice today after their loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins last night. Ryan Kesler and Antoine Vermette were both given a maintenance day and did not skate. Ryan Getzlaf and Nick Ritchie, who both were scratched last night, did not skate today either. According to head coach Randy Carlyle both will skate tomorrow.

Getzlaf is dealing with an upper-body injury after taking a puck off his left arm in the overtime loss to San Jose last week. He did not play against Nashville but did compete in the games against Columbus and Los Angeles.

Ritchie took a hard hit into the glass from the Kings’ Tom Gilbert in the third period of Anaheim’s 4-0 victory over Los Angeles. The Department of NHL Player Safety suspended Gilbert for three games today.

Yesterday Ondrej Kase and Michael Sgarbossa were called up as a result of Getzlaf’s and Ritchie’s ailments. Kase made his NHL debut and Sgarbossa played as well. Both could see more game action if either Getzlaf or Ritchie miss an extended amount of time.
