Silfverberg Dealing With “Protocolâ€
By Michael Walters
Last week the Anaheim Ducks got down early but came back to beat the Colorado Avalanche 2-1. The Ducks won the contest but lost Jakob Silfverberg who received a hard check from Colorado’s Nikita Zadorov. Silfverberg was checked near the boards on the play and how he landed awkwardly on the ice with his head sent him to the locker room. Silfverberg hasn’t played since that game and won’t play until after the All-Star Break.
Silfverberg did participate in a non-contact practice today. Randy Carlyle didn’t say Silfverberg had a concussion but acknowledged he had “protocol” to deal with. The next step for Silfverberg is to see if he can practice in full contact and how he feels afterward. He would then have to pass some neuropsychological tests in order to allow his return.
