Ducks Re-sign Sam Carrick
By Michael Walters
According to CapFriendly.com, the Ducks have re-signed unrestricted free agent Sam Carrick to a two year, two-way contract extension. The contract is valued at $650K/$200K for the 2017-18 season and $650K/$225K for the 2018-19 season.
Carrick spent last season playing for the Chicago AHL affiliate Rockford IceHogs and then the Anaheim AHL affiliate San Diego Gulls. In 57 games with Rockford, Carrick scored 28 total points (11 goals + 17 assists). He had an on ice rating of -14.
At the NHL trade deadline, Spencer Abbott and Sam Carrick were traded from Chicago for Anaheim left wing Kenton Helgesen. Carrick played in 15 regular season games in San Diego recording 11 total points(3 goals + 8 assists) with an on ice rating of +3. Carrick also played in 10 of the Gulls playoff games recording seven points (4 goals + 3 assists) with an on ice rating of -2.
Carrick is a sound defensive player that has a bit of an edge to his game as he can get under the opponent’s skin. He likely won’t put up big offensive numbers, but he is a solid fourth line role player.
