Some Notes About The Ducks 2017-18 Schedule

Graphic: Anaheim Ducks

By Michael Walters

The Anaheim Ducks announced their 2017-18 regular season schedule today. Here are some notes to keep in mind when reviewing it.

The Ducks will open their season on Oct. 5 against Arizona at Honda Center. Anaheim will have a four-game homestand which also includes games against Philadelphia, Calgary, and the New York Islanders. It’s been seven years since Anaheim has started the season at home.

The Ducks will play their first official game against the Vegas Golden Knights on Nov. 22nd in Anaheim. Vegas also comes back to Honda Center on Dec. 27th. The Ducks will head to Vegas on Dec. 5th and Feb 19th. There may be a ticket deal and road trip party planned by us for one or both games. The Ducks will play the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins on Dec. 23rd. The Penguins come to Anaheim on Jan. 17th.

The annual Black Friday matinee the Ducks host on the day after Thanksgiving will not be against Chicago this season. The Ducks will play the Winnipeg Jets on that day instead and hope to have better luck earning a win.

In an unusual part of the scheduling, the Ducks have several early games this season besides the Black Friday game. The Ducks will play the Arizona Coyotes on New Year’s Eve in Anaheim at 1 PM PT. Anaheim will travel to Colorado and play the Avalanche at high noon on the Martin Luther King Holiday, Jan. 15th. The Ducks will also play the Canadiens in Montreal on Feb. 3rd at 10 AM PT. Anaheim will travel to Minnesota and play the Wild on Feb. 17th at 11:00 AM PT. Lastly, the Ducks will host the Blackhawks on March 4th at 1:00 PM PT.

The Ducks will have their week off between Jan. 6th – 13th. The NHL All-Star break is Jan. 26th – 29th. Also, the schedule does contain 11 sets of back-to-back contests.
