Game 2: Ducks vs Flyers
By Michael Walters
The Anaheim Ducks(1-0-0) continue their homestand against the Philadelphia Flyers(1-1-0).
Anaheim Outlook:
The wounded Ducks started the season at home against the Arizona Coyotes without Ryan Getzlaf, Ryan Kesler, Patrick Eaves, Hampus Lindholm, Sami Vatanen, and Ryan Miller. The Ducks got down 4-1 in the game but managed to rally to win 5-4. The “comeback kids” scored two late goals in the third period to complete the come from behind win.
Keys To The Game
It appears the Ducks will still be without all the injured players listed above. For tonight’s contest, they need to look to get a lead first instead of having to try to rally from a multiple-goal deficit. Anaheim also needs to work on their special teams. They went 0-for-4 on the powerplay while giving up two powerplay goals to Arizona in four attempts.
Offense
Andrew Cogliano – Rickard Rakell – Corey Perry
Ondrej Kase – Antoine Vermette – Jakob Silfverberg
Chris Wagner – Dennis Rasmussen – Logan Shaw
Giovanni Fiore – Derek Grant – Jared Boll
Defense
Cam Fowler – Josh Manson
Francois Beauchemin– Brandon Montour
Korbinian Holzer– Kevin Bieksa

John Gibson 1-0-0, GAA 4.00, SV% .867 (Confirmed)
Philadelphia Outlook:
The Flyers have played two games already, one against San Jose and the other against Los Angeles. They won the game against the Sharks 5-3 and then lost 0-2 to the Kings the following night. Wayne Simmonds currently leads the Flyers with three goals from his hat trick on opening night. The Flyers will need to get him going tonight if they want to leave Anaheim with two points.
Keys To The Game
After scoring five goals in their season opener, the Flyers were shutout in their second game. The Flyers will look to get on the scoreboard against the Ducks tonight. If they can score early on the Ducks, then they have a good chance to win tonight’s contest. Of course, they may need a multiple goal lead as the Ducks were able to rally down by three in their home opener.
Philadelphia’s Projected Lineup:
Offense
Claude Giroux – Sean Couturier – Jakub Voracek
Jordan Weal – Nolan Patrick – Wayne Simmonds
Dale Weise – Valtteri Filppula – Travis Konecny
Taylor Leier – Scott Laughton – Michael Raffl
Defense
Ivan Provorov – Andrew MacDonald
Shayne Gostisbehere – Robert Hagg
Travis Sanheim – Radko Gudas
In Net
Brian Elliott 1-0-0, GAA 3.00, SV% .914 (Confirmed)
