The Ducks were just handed a tough loss at the hands of the Chicago Blackhawks by a score of 7-3. Anaheim has been on a four game losing streak. Brandon Montour(elbow) also appeared to be injured at the end of the game and will not play tonight. Randy Carlyle is hoping he will only be out one game. The Ducks are also still without Rickard Rakell on this road trip as he is dealing with an upper body injury. According to Carlyle, Ondrej Kase and Jared Boll are practicing in San Diego and could join the team this weekend.
Keys To The Game
The Ducks need to score early in this contest. Anaheim can’t afford to get down early in the game and especially not by multiple goals. Anaheim needs to find a way to sustain some offensive pressure to generate more scoring chances. It is difficult being without five scoring forwards due to injury, but others on the team need to step for the time being.
Anaheim’s Projected Lineup:
St. Louis Outlook:
The Blues are currently in first place in the Central Division and first overall in the Western Conference with 35 points. They have gone 7-3-0 in their last ten games. Patrik Berglund could return tonight for the Blues. He has been skating with the team for several weeks after undergoing surgery in June to repair a dislocated shoulder. Jaden Schwartz leads the team with 13 goals. Vladimir Tarasenko has 12 goals on the season.
Keys To The Game
The Blues rank 5th overall in the league in goal scoring averaging 3.42 goals per game. They also average 33.9 shots on net per game, which is 8th in the NHL. They will look to pepper the Anaheim net, which has been a problem for Anaheim as they give up the most shots on net per game. The Blues are not a good penalty killing team with only a 76.7% efficiency, so they need to avoid the sin bin tonight.
St. Louis’ Projected Lineup:
Jaden Schwartz – Brayden Schenn – Vladimir Tarasenko
Vladimir Sobotka – Paul Stastny – Alex Steen
Dmitrij Jaskin – Patrik Berglund – Samuel Blais
Scottie Upshall – Kyle Brodziak – Magnus Paajarvi
