Practice Report: Getzlaf and Kesler Skating Daily
By Michael Walters
After the big announcement that Sami Vatanen was traded to New Jersey this morning, the Ducks hit the ice for practice.
According to the OC Register’s Eric Stephens, Ondrej Kase skated with Antoine Vermette and Kevin Roy. Jakob Silfverberg was not present at practice. He was unable to play in the third period of the Ducks 3-2 win last night as he sustained an upper-body injury. Brandon Montour missed last night’s game with an elbow injury that occurred in the Ducks blow out loss to Chicago. He skated today and the hope is he is able to play tomorrow in Columbus.
The Ducks General Manager Bob Murray did provide some great news today as Ryan Getzlaf and Ryan Kesler are both skating on a daily basis. The hope is for them to both be on the team’s next road trip.
Adam Henrique is set to join the team tonight in Columbus and he will wear number 14. Joseph Blandisi will also join the Ducks and wear number 39. Henrique could fit in on the top line with Nick Ritchie and Corey Perry. Derek Grant would likely get bumped down to the fourth line if that is the case. With Silfverberg’s status still up in the air, Kossila might be bumped up to his spot. Blandisi will likely appear in the Ducks bottom six if he plays against Columbus. Tomorrow morning’s skate should hopefully provide a clearer picture.
The Anaheim Ducks placed Rickard Rakell on the injured reserve today in order to make room on the roster for Henrique and Blandisi.
