The Ducks are coming off a 2-1 shootout loss to the Edmonton Oilers. Ryan Kesler scored his first goal of the season, but that’s the only score Anaheim saw in that contest. Tonight they face the Calgary Flames, who the Ducks just beat on their recent homestand by a 2-1 score. Corey Perry has been practicing with the team and could play tonight on the third line. Anaheim will have a week off before they face their cross-town rivals.
Keys To The Game
The Ducks got off to a super slow start against the Oilers only registering two shots in the opening frame. Anaheim needs a better start tonight against Calgary who has been Chicago and Los Angeles since their last meeting. Anaheim needs to work on sustaining the forecheck and creating secondary scoring chances.
Anaheim’s Projected Lineup:
The Flames have 44 points and are three points behind the Ducks as they battle it out to make a wildcard spot in the Western Conference. Sean Monahan leads the team with 19 goals. Micheal Ferland has 16 goals and Johnny Gaudreau has 13. After losing to Anaheim, Calgary has won their last two games. They even got added motivation when coach Glen Gulutzan tossed a hockey stick into the stands at yesterday’s practice. Gulutzan’s message (minus the expletives) is that one win against Los Angeles doesn’t make a season. They aren’t in the playoff spot and he expects more from his team.
Keys To The Game
The Flames have scored eight times in their last two games, four goals in each game against Chicago and Los Angeles. Calgary will look to score early and use their speed to draw penalties against the Ducks. They got behind early to the Kings 2-0, but a monster second period led to four goals. In the past when they get going, then they can score goals in bunches.
Calgary Projected Lineup:
Mike Smith, 16-13-3, GAA 2.58, SV% .920 (Unconfirmed)
