Injury Updates: Kase Out Indefinitely
By Michael Walters
The Anaheim Ducks hit the ice for practice before tomorrow’s season opener against the San Jose Sharks.
Patrick Eaves(shoulder), Ryan Kesler(hip), and Ondrej Kase(head) were all not present on the ice. Eaves timetable to return still appears to be sometime between game 5 and 10. He has been dealing with a shoulder injury. Kesler will travel with the team to San Jose but is not scheduled to play per Joshua Cooper of the Athletic.
The Ducks announced that Kase suffered a concussion in the final preseason game against Los Angeles. Drew Doughty roughed him up early in the game and Kase was inadvertently kicked in the head by a skate later on. But at the beginning of the third period, he was checked hard into the rounded glass by the benches. He came off the ice wobbly, shaking his head and didn’t finish the game after that check. He is out indefinitely. The Ducks also announced that Brian Gibbons sustained a bone bruise in his left hand from blocking a shot in preseason, but he is cleared to play.
