Aberg Placed On Waivers, Getzlaf Misses Practice
By Michael Walters
Last night the Anaheim Ducks earned their second win as they shut out the Arizona Coyotes 1-0. The win didn’t come without consequence, however, as Ryan Getzlaf had to exit the third period with a lower-body injury. Below is a video of Getzlaf’s final shift of the game where he appears to be injured. His leg was also hooked earlier in the game when he had a breakaway, which could have been the initial cause of the injury.
Getzlaf was not on the ice for practice today per Kyle Shohara of the Anaheim Ducks. As a result, Adam Henrique was bumped up to first line center and Sam Steel was bumped on to second line center. Isac Lundestrom skated in the third line center position. He could start tomorrow if Getzlaf and Ryan Kesler are both not able to go. Getzlaf is listed as having a lower-body injury and it’s unknown the extent of the injury. An update will hopefully be provided during tomorrows practice.
Pontus Aberg Placed On Waivers
This morning Pontus Aberg was placed on waivers per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. He appeared in the Ducks season opener against the San Jose Sharks. He played 13 minutes and 47 seconds, had two penalty minutes, and on ice rating of -1. If he clears waivers, he will likely be assigned to the San Diego Gulls.
