“This is a great day for the organization and our loyal fans,” said Ducks Chief Executive Officer Michael Schulman. “We thank the Anaheim City Council for their support and are pleased we have committed to each other until at least 2048.”

“We are certainly thrilled that our Ducks have a strong and secure future here in Anaheim and are excited to further enhance our partnership with the city and its residents,” said Ducks Owners Henry and Susan Samueli. “We believe that Anaheim is a truly special place and appreciate the city’s clear commitment to remain a leading sports and entertainment destination.”

Early Beginnings and History

On Dec. 10, 1992, the City of Anaheim and the Disney Corporation was awarded a National Hockey League franchise. On March 1, 1993, the team was given the name of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. The Ducks were purchased in the summer of 2005 by the Samuelis and had their name changed to the “Anaheim Ducks”.

In 2007 they became California’s first Stanley Cup Champion. The Ducks are currently celebrating their 25th season. The Ducks have been in the Stanely Cup Final twice(2003, 2007). They have also been in the Western Conference Final five times(2003, 2006, 2007, 2015, 2017).
