Today the Anaheim Ducks re-signed Derek Grant, Korbinian Holzer, and Ryan Miller to one-year deals. Grant’s deal is worth $700,000 and Holzer’s deal is worth $850,000. Both are one-way contracts. Miller’s deal is worth $1.125 million.

Derek Grant

Grant returns to Anaheim to continue his second stint with the team. During the 2017-18 season, he recorded 24 total points(12 G + 12 A) in 66 games in Anaheim. He had an on-ice rating of +3. This past season he returned to Anaheim from Pittsburgh. He appeared in 31 games posting nine total points(2 G + 7 A). He has been a reliable center in the face-off circle for Anaheim winning 52.3% of his draws. He has mainly played in a bottom six role for Anaheim but has filled in as a top-six forward when Ryan Getzlaf was injured.

Korbinian Holzer

Holzer has played in 99 career games in Anaheim posting 14 total points(3 G + 11A). Last season he spent time in Anaheim and San Diego. He had four total points(1 G + 3 A) in 22 games in Anaheim, with a +5 on-ice rating. He recorded 5 total points(2 G + 3 A) in 12 games in San Diego. Holzer will likely remain in his role as a bottom third pairing defenseman. He isn’t very flashy and won’t put up many points, but he is a solid skater that doesn’t turnover the puck often.

Ryan Miller

Miller played the last two seasons in Anaheim as John Gibson‘s backup. He was 20-13-8 in 48 games during that time span. Last season he went 8-7-2, with a GAA of 2.76 and SV% of .912. He has won 378 games in his 16th-year NHL career, the most by any American-born goaltender. He is also the second all-time winning goalie in shootouts with 59 wins. Miller is one the best, if not the best, back-ups goalies currently in the NHL. Hopefully, he can stay healthy this season and give Gibson relief as needed throughout the season.

Note: Contract amounts provided by the Athletic’s Eric Stephens.
