Ducks Sign Poturalski
By Michael Walters
The Anaheim Ducks have signed unrestricted free agent center Andrew Poturalski according to Elliotte Friedman.
He played in 72 games with the AHL Charlotte Checkers last year registering 70 total points(23 G + 47 A). He also had 23 points(12 G + 11 A) in 18 playoff games last year. He was the AHL MVP for last season. During the 2016-17 NHL season, he did appear in two games with Carolina recording no points.
Poturalski has a high potential upside offensively and is a fast skater. He has a good hockey IQ and on-ice awareness. His size(5’10, 190 lbs) and physical play have been his drawbacks. He has the potential to be a top 9 forward, but will likely start out in San Diego first.
Bob Murray is starting off the Free Agency with adding a depth player, which has been his MO in the past. With all the young talent that is ready to break out next season, it’s likely Murray continues to look at adding depth players or veteran role players, who can also serve as mentors for the young guys.
This story will be updated as more details become available.
