VIDEO: Ducks Get Blanked By The Stars
By Michael Walters
The Anaheim Ducks finished their short homestand against the Dallas Stars. John Gibson was in net against Ben Bishop.
The Ducks honored Corey Perry and Andrew Cogliano during the television timeouts during the first period. The fans rose to their feet and cheered during each separate video tribute. Cogliano was on the ice during his tribute and Perry was in one of the suites. He couldn’t play due to serving his suspension.
In terms of the game, there wasn’t much for the fans to cheer about. The Ducks were shutout 3-0 by the Stars and Bishop. In the first period, Denis Gurianov would score on the power play to give Dallas a 1-0 lead. The Stars would get another power play goal in the second period after a phantom high-sticking call on Max Jones. Dallas was awarded the power play even though it was one of their own players high-sticking a fellow teammate.

After the second goal, Nicolas Deslauriers dropped the gloves with Jamie Oleksiak to try to rally the Ducks.
Despite another solid bout by Deslauriers, the Ducks had no answer on the scoreboard. They had a few power play opportunities but didn’t do much with them. Anaheim pulled their goalie in the final moments of the game, but Dallas scored an empty-net goal to ensure a victory.

Deslauriers leads the league in fights with 10.
Analysis
The Ducks started this contest with decent play and were outshooting the Stars. Once the Ducks got down by one then they seemed to not skate as hard. The second goal by Dallas added to the frustration because the power play led to a missed call by the referees. The Ducks did have a couple of power play chances to try to get back into this one, but they weren’t able to score with the extra man. If Anaheim could have got just one goal in the middle of this game, then the outcome could have been different. Bishop did have himself a game earning him the shutout.
