VIDEO: Ducks Can’t Hold Off Flames
By Michael Walters
The Anaheim Ducks concluded their brief road trip against the Calgary Flames. Ryan Miller was in net against Cam Talbot.
In the opening period, the Ducks battled to a scoreless tie. Both teams had power-play chances, but neither team could convert.
Adam Henrique would start the scoring in the second period as he would beat Talbot and the puck would trickle behind him into the net. The Flames would answer right back with a goal by Andrew Mangiapane. Jakob Silfverberg would then get the puck after a turnover and fake Talbot out of his jockstrap to give the Ducks the lead back at 2-1.

In the third, Anaheim would extend their lead to 3-1 on a goal by Nicolas Deslauriers, but then it was all Calgary after that. The Flames would score five, yes five, straight goals to take a 6-3 lead. Mangiapane would score two of those goals to earn a hat trick. Devin Shore would get a very late goal to make it 6-4, but the game was well over at that point.
Analysis:
The Ducks played solid for about 44 minutes of this contest, then the last 16 minutes belonged to the Flames. Anaheim had a chance to redeem themselves after the 6-0 loss they suffered at Honda Center last week, but they couldn’t hold on in the third period. The Ducks did play two day games back-to-back and maybe it affected them. Anaheim seemed fine for a majority of this game but just ran out of steam in the final period.
What’s Next?
The Ducks return home to face Florida on Wednesday at 7 PM.
