Ducks Players Donate Meals To UCI Medical Center

By Michael Walters

The Anaheim Ducks announced today that their players and significant others will be donating 200 meals a day to UCI Medical Center.

Local restaurants in Orange County will be used for the donations per the team press release. Food will start to be delivered next week on an ongoing basis. The Ducks will work with UCI to determine the needs throughout the process.

The players and their significant others had this to say:

“We are extremely proud of how our community has come together during these difficult days. We would like to follow in the footsteps of our ownership, Henry and Susan Samueli, who have once again shown their leadership and dedication to making a positive impact by taking care of their part-time staff.”

“As a team, along with our significant others, we would like to recognize the amazing, brave staff at UCI Medical Center by sending them on-going deliveries of catered meals to fuel and support them as they face daily risks to help others in need. Similarly, we would like to assist several local restaurants that are doing their best to continue to operate and employ their staffs during this unprecedented time.”

The Samuelis continue to be a role model throughout this difficult time. Owners Henry and Susan Samueli are continuing to pay part-time employees until June that work at Honda Center, the Rinks, JT Schmid’s, and the San Diego Gulls. The organization has also extended ticket payments until June as well.

The owners have also been working with Second Harvest Food Bank, which launched a weekly drive-through service at the Honda Center at the end of last month.

The Ducks organization has allowed the Second Harvest Food Bank to conduct the drive-through food pantry in the Honda Center parking lot on Saturdays between 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. or until supplies last. It will provide food for those in need with bags consisting of apples, potatoes, and shelf-stable foods. The drive-through food pantry is organized on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The owners, players, and the organization as a whole have been amazing throughout this time.

Thank you Anaheim Ducks!
