Milano Gets Two-Year Extension
By Michael Walters
The Anaheim Ducks signed Sonny Milano to a two-year extension per Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman yesterday.
The contract is worth a total of $3.4 million. For the 2020-21 season, Milano will be paid $1.6 million and then $1.8 million the following year per the Athletic’s Eric Stephens. He will remain an RFA with arbitration rights.
Milano started his NHL career playing for the Columbus Blue Jackets. In about 4 and a half seasons he appeared in 116 games recording 42 total points(20 goals + 22 assists). He was traded to Anaheim at the trade deadline for Devon Shore.
In his first game with Anaheim, Milano scored two goals including the overtime game-winner to beat Edmonton. He appeared in nine games with Anaheim this season registering five total points(two goals + three assists).
This is a good deal all the way around. The Ducks were able to get Milano a two-year deal at an affordable rate. In turn, this deal with give Milano a chance to prove himself in hopes of getting a bigger contract down the road.
For the next two years, it’s always going to be Sonny in Anaheim.
