Ducks Sign Maxim Golod
By Michael Walters
The Anaheim Ducks have signed forward Maxim Golod to a three-year entry-level contract(ELC) per Cap Friendly. The ELC carries a $793,333 cap hit and a signing bonus of $60,000 for each season.
Golod spent the last three seasons with the OHL Erie Otters, where Anaheim’s first-round pick Jamie Drysdale also played. Golod was on their top line last season registering 78 total points(25 Goals + 53 Assists) in 63 games. He also had 38 penalty minutes and had an on-ice rating of +9.
He is a great skater and has very good hands. He is a solid puck handler who can operate in tight spaces. He has been a big-time scorer for the Otters and definitely has offensive upside. He also has some grit in his game, but he is listed as 5’11 and weighs 163 pounds so size has been a concern. He also needs to work on his defensive game. He will likely start next season in San Diego.
