Tampa Bay Lightning Vs Dallas Stars Recap
By Jake Ricker
Overview
The Tampa Bay Lightning once again showed why they are the best team in the NHL by dominating the game late. The Bolts spoiled Bishop’s return with a 6-1 victory as they improve to 15-2-2 and the Stars fall too 9-9-1. Lets take a look at how this one played out period by period.
First Period
This game started out physical as both teams were putting on hits and two players even dropped the gloves, Namestnikov and Hamas exchanged punches (Vladdy definitely had the better shots) and both headed to the box for fighting. The first was a pretty evenly matched game as both teams did their part. The Bolts did, however, have a slight edge in time of possession.
Goals: 0-0
Shots: 13-6 Lightning
Second Period
The second was a whole different period as the Bolts opened up the scoring with a blast from the circle by Steven Stamkos to put the Bolts up 1-0. The Stars however quickly tied it up on a breakaway goal by Stars forward Faksa. The Bolts then got another one from Sergachev who ripped one from the point to put the Bolts up 2-1. The Bolts then started to give the Stars chances on the power play after taking multiple penalties, however, Point had other plans and stole the puck from behind the net to put the Bolts up 3-1. The Bolts still couldn’t stay out of the box and had to kill a brief 5 on 3 but were successful killing it off.
Goals: 3-1 Lightning
Shots: 21-21
Third Period
The Final 20 were all Bolts as the Lighting came out flying. The Stars made a huge mistake and left Steven Stamkos wide open in the slot and he made no mistake and rifled one home putting the Bolts up 4-1. Now if you have been watching the Lighting you know that when we win, we win big, Jake Dotchin continued the scoring to put the Bolts up 5-1. Then, yes Kuch also put one in the back on the net to make it 6-1 Bolts. This was yet another game where the Bolts just dominated once they got going and they took home the victory.
