Bolts Look to End Road Trip With a Win

Kevin Flannery

By Jake Ricker

Overview

Tonight it’s the Tampa Bay Lightning (36-13-3) taking on the Edmonton Oilers (22-24-4). The Bolts will look to continue their winning ways, while the Oilers will look to bounce back from a loss from the avalanche. This will be the 1st time these two teams face off, as Mcdavid and Stamkos look to take a series lead. Let’s take a look at the game plan for these two teams as they get set to square off.

Tampa’s Outlook and Past

The Bolts have won 4 of their last 5 games scoring 21 goals over that span. The Bolts have played extremely well in their last two games. The Bolts offense has really clicked in the past few games scoring 4 or more goals in 4 of their last 5 games. The Defence has also really stepped up their game only giving up 13 goals over their last 5 games. This will be the final game for the Bolts on their 8 game road trip. They will look to maintain their top spot with another win tonight.

Three Keys To The Game

Kevin Flannery

1. Continue the Success

The Bolts have been on a roll since the All-Star break. Keep it up tonight with another win.

2. Don’t Sit on the Lead

Despite the great play the Bolts nearly lost it late in the game against Vancouver. The Bolts need to stay aggressive so it won’t happen again.

3. Shut Down McDavid

McDavid has continued to shine for the Oilers, however, the Bolts will look to keep him locked down tonight.

Edmonton’s Outlook and Past

The Oilers continue to struggle despite all their major talent on the team as they sit at the bottom of the league. The Oilers have won 3 of their last 5 games scoring 15 goals over that span. The Oilers are currently ranked dead last in penalty kill percentage (71.0%) and will need to try and improve that tonight. The Oilers will wrap up a 5 game home stand tonight before heading out on the road.

Three Keys To The Game

1. Rookies

With Nugent-Hopkins and Larson still out the Oilers need their rookies to step up and show off their skills.

Stamkos has played really well as of late, the Oilers will need to shut him down if they want a shot at winning.
