Lightning Look to Storm Back Against Dallas

Kevin Flannery

By Jake Ricker

Overview

Tonight it’s the Tampa Bay Lightning (43-17-4) taking on the Dallas Stars (36-23-4). The Bolts will look to bounce back after a bad loss, while the Stars will look to make it 2 wins in a row after a big win on Tuesday. This will be the 2nd time these two teams face off with the first meeting ending in a 6-1 Lightning blowout victory. The Bolts will look to take the series sweep while the Stars will look to even the score. Let’s take a look at the game plan for these two teams as they get set to square off.

Tampa’s Outlook and Past

The Bolts have won 4 of their last 5 games scoring 17 goals over that span. Despite their recent success the Bolts did not play well last night against the Sabres and will look to correct that tonight. The Bolts are currently ranked 3rd in the league in power play percentage (24.2%).They will look to continue this success tonight. However, they might have a hard time as they face the Stars who are the 6th in the NHL PK department (82.5%). This will be the last road game before heading home for a huge 8 game homestand! The Bolts will look to maintain their top spot in the league with another win tonight.

Dallas’s Outlook and Past

The Stars have had a great season and would like to hold onto their playoff spot as the final day approaches. The Stars have won 2 of their last 5 games scoring 12 goals over that span. The Stars are ranked 6th overall in PK (82.5%) and will look to use that to their advantage as they take n the Bolts who are ranked 3rd in the power play department. the Stars will have 2 more home games after tonight before they head back onto the road for just one game. The Stars will look to maintain their 1st wild-card spot with a win tonight.

Three Keys To The Game

1. Quick Pressure

With the Bolts coming off a game yesterday look for the Stars to try and jump on the quick and catch them off guard.

2. Lockdown D

2 of the Stars last 5 wins have been shutout victories. Continue this defensive success and shut down the Bolts.

Last time Bishop played his former team they had a felid day as they scored 6 goals over the course of the game. Don’t let it happen again and use his knowledge of them to his advantage.
