Bolts Electrify Devils in Bounce Back Win!
By: Jake Ricker
The Bolts bounced back in a big way tonight firing on all cylinders. It was a rough start for the Bolts but they quickly got things going and they never looked back. The Devils could just not stop the Bolts offensive firepower and took way too many penalties. None the less it was a huge win for the Bolts after getting killed in Arizona. let’s see how we got here period by period.
The Bolts did not get the start they wanted as the Devils quickly jumped on the Bolts and were rewarded. Miles Wood tipped one past Vasy to grab the Devils an early 1-0 Lead. Things then didn’t get any better for the Bolts as the Devils as they quickly shut down the Bolts push back attempts and went right back to work. Travis Zajack then grabbed a loose puck and went in on a breakaway where he put one right through the five-hole of Vasy for a 2-0 lead. The Bolts would not stand for this for long though as they began to Pushback. The Bolts would then quickly break through as Brayden Coburn rifled one home to cut the lead to 1. The Bolts then settled into the game and quickly got up to speed. The Bolts kept on pushing as they grabbed a few more shots on goal and were knocking on the door. Then low and behold it was Brayden Coburn who rifled another one to tie this game at 2! The Bolts would then have to face one last challenge as Brayden Coburn would get called for a check to the head (This hit was not intentional just unfortunate). The Bolts penalty kill was still on top of its game as they quickly shut down anything the Devils attempted. Despite a rocky start, the Bolts would head into the locker room with this game tied at 2.

The Bolts got off to a quick start in the second as just minute in Brayden point crashed the net and put a rebound home to give the Bolts a 3-2 lead! The Bolts would keep up this great pace as they played smart on defense and grabbed quick shots when given the opportunity. the Bolts weren’t done there though as they continued the constant pressure forcing the Devils to make mistakes. Coleman was then called for a double minor high-stick and the Bolts powerplay would go to work. Just before the first miner was up Kucherov blasted one from the circle to give the Bolts a 4-2 lead. The Devils then put themselves in a bigger hole as Zajack was called for slashing that gave the bolts a short 5 on 3. The Bolts were not about to let this opportunity pass and it was Stamkos from the office who blasted another one home for a now 5-2 lead! The power plays would then finally come to an end and the Devils were back to full strength. The Bolts kept up their dominant play through as they kept up the pressure. The Bolts were quick to pucks, took quality shots, and maintained the quick pace they wanted to play. It was just like the Bolts team you love to see. Unfortunately, things didn’t remain perfect for the Bolts as Kuch took a shot off the knee and went down and was in pain. Luckily Kuch was able to get up and stay on the bench for the time being. Slater Koekkoek was then called for holding and the Devils would get their second power-play of the night. The Devils would finally crack the Bolts penalty kill as Nico Hischier put one home to make it a 5-3 game. The Devils got a pep in their step after this goal but the Lightning quickly took away their momentum. Both teams grabbed a few more chances but the horn would then sound and the Bolts would head into the locker room with a 2 goal lead.

The Bolts did not take their foot off the gas pedal as they continued to play aggressively. It wasn’t long until they got right back on the board with Johnson finding the rebound to put home! The Bolts flurry of goals would continue though as then it was Nikita Kucherov who got his second of the night to make it 7-3 Bolts. the Devils would then make a Goalie change putting in Corey Schneider to try and shake things up. It didn’t work…. The Bolts kept on flying as Ryan McDonagh lifted one past Schneider to make it 8-1 Bolts. Things then got Chippy and Paquette went at with Rooney before they were separated. Paquette was then also called for interference so the Devils would get their third power play chance of the night. The Bolts penalty kill was not about to let another one get past them though as they quickly killed it off. Things then settled down with both teams getting their fair share of opportunities s time began to wind down. The Bolts would then Cruz to victory as the final horn sounded.

Up Next and Final Strike
This was a MUCH better game by the Bolts and it’s what we are used to seeing. Despite the Bolts shaky start, the Bolts were quick to pucks, shot their shot, and played at a fast pace. Both the power play and the penalty kill were fantastic tonight as well. This was a dominate statement by the Bolt and a much-needed one after a bad game last time out.
The Bolts will look to continue this dominant play as they take on the Nashville Predators Thursday, November 1st at 7:30 PM at Amalie Arena.
