Bolts Hang On To Lead Despite Late Surge By Bruins

The Tampa Bay Lightning returned home to face their division rivals the Boston Bruins. Tampa was on a four game streak with their last three on the road while the Boston were on a two game losing streak their most recent game a 5-0 loss against Florida. With both the Bolts and Bruins being dynamic teams this game would be a high intensity one. Now for a period by period break down.
First period
This game got to a fast start for the visitors with Pastrnak scoring just 2:04 into the game. The period had other offensive exchanges but it wasn’t till late in the first that Brayden Point tied the game. However just minutes later Domingue denied Pastrnak on a break way. Such an amazing save that the NHL App notified users of the app to watch the pad save. After the first 20 the score was 1-1.
Second period
The second period was uneventful with both teams exchanging shots but nothing big. This game would have to be settled in the final period.
Third period
This period had a fast start as Mathieu Joseph scored to give the bolts the lead at 2:40 of the third period. The Lightning were not done as short handed Anthony Cirelli scored an unassisted goal a minute 1:23 later for a 3-1 lead. Late in the third the Bruins would answer back with a goal of their own but couldn’t rally back and tie the game. The Bolts won 3-2.
Overview
Domingue has proved to be such a solid goalie and has made big saves. Mathieu Joseph and Brayden Point have stayed hot and lifted Tampa to wins. The penalty kill in this game was good and Cirelli scored the game winner short handed. Overall a tough game but a very well deserved win and two points.
