Deslauriers Trade Drama

By Michael Walters

Just prior to the Ducks game, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman tweeted that Nicolas Deslauriers was going to be traded to Pittsburgh. There was no mention of what the return would be.

Then about 30 minutes later, Friedman deleted his original tweet and posted a new one. He updated the situation that there were discussions between Anaheim and Pittsburgh, but no deal was made. He has since deleted this tweet too.

At about the same time of the second tweet, the Athletic’s Eric Stephens said that according to the league and the Ducks that the trade report of Deslauriers was incorrect. Stephens said there was no deal at the moment via the Athletic’s real time page.

About an hour and a half later, Dave Molinari of Pittsburgh Hockey Now tweeted he received a text from a “well-placed source” that also said there was no deal and that one would be unlikely before the trade deadline. A trade wasn’t completely ruled out however.

So as of now there is no deal involving Deslauriers to Pittsburgh. Dan Kingerski of Pittsburgh Hockey Now first reported the Pens interest in Deslauriers back in the beginning of March.
