Anaheim Outlook
The Ducks jumped out to a two goal lead in their season opener at home this past Wednesday. The Winnipeg Jets were able to cut the lead into half, but the Ducks responded with two more goals. Mason McTavish made his NHL debut and scored in his first NHL game. He is the youngest player in team history to score a goal. Adam Henrique, Rickard Rakell, and Kevin Shattenkirk also scored in the Ducks season opener.
In Anaheim’s second game against Minnesota they jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, but didn’t score any more goals. They were tied late in the third period and it appeared the game would head to overtime, but the Wild scored in the final seconds to pull out a 2-1 win.
The Ducks have been a tale of two teams so far. In game one they were on the attack and kept pushing. In game two they fell into an old bad habit of playing not to lose instead of playing to win.
Roster Moves:
Saturday morning the Ducks placed Derek Grant and Greg Pateryn on waivers and they both cleared them.
Pateryn was reassigned to San Diego, along with Lukas Dostal and Roman Durny. Grant remains with the Ducks.
Sam Benoit was recalled from San Diego.
Injury News:
Troy Terry(illness non-COVID) did not play against Minnesota, but will play tonight.

The Flames have just played one game so far this season and lost to the Edmonton Oilers 5-2. The Oilers jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the second period, but the Flames fought back get it within one goal. Connor McDavid proven to be too much for the Flames as he scored a hat trick, with the third goal coming late in the game to seal the deal.
There some positives from the game for Calgary. They did get a whooping 47 shots on goal and also scored on the power play. They will need to work on the penalty kill, which gave up two goals while shorthanded four times.
