Anaheim Outlook
The Anaheim Ducks are coming off a thrilling home opening victory over Utah. The Ducks scored first and then fell behind two separate times before scoring late in the third to force overtime. Leo Carlsson got a partial breakaway and scored a nice backhand goal to win the game in overtime.
An early concern for Anaheim is their power play. They have gone 0-for-11 with the extra man. While shorthanded they have killed off 7 of 9 penalties good for 77.8%. The Ducks have been solid defensively blocking 52 shots in their first three contests. The Ducks have been decent during even strength posting a CF% of 48.99% and a FF% of 48.13%.
Team/Injury News:
Frank Vatrano is not listed on the roster as his wife and him are expecting the birth of their child.
Isac Lundestrom (upper-body) is day-to-day and will not play tonight. He took a hit to his head in Wednesday’s game and did not return. Jansen Harkins was recalled from San Diego as a result.
Jackson LaCombe did not play in the first three games due to feeling ill.
John Gibson (appendix) has been riding the exercise bike and could start skating soon.

Colorado Outlook
The Avs have had a difficult start to the season losing four games in a row. Colorado lost their first game of the season on the road in Vegas by a 8-4 final. The Avs then lost at home to the Blue Jackets 6-4, the Islanders 6-2, and the Bruins 5-3. Colorado has been outscored 25 to 13 in their first four games.
They are missing several players which include: Devon Toews (lower body), Jonathan Drouin (upper body), Sean Behrens (knee), Artturi Lehkonen (IR – shoulder), Tucker Poolman (IR – head), Kaapo Kahkonen (IR – lower body), and Valeri Nichushkin who was suspended. They do need to figure something out defensively in the meantime or it’s going to be a long season.
Mikko Rantanen leads the team with four goals.
