The Anaheim Ducks continued their road trip in Philadelphia. John Gibson was in net against Samuel Ersson. Troy Terry remained at home with his wife Dani and newborn baby Theo.

Recap:

The Flyers started the scoring just under seven minutes into this contest. Morgan Frost one-timed a shot in the slot past Gibson.

Philadelphia went on the power play in the final minutes of the first period and Jamie Drysdale beat Gibson low in close. Ducks were down 2-0 after the first period.

In the middle frame, Owen Tippett one-timed a centering pass from the slot to make it 3-0 Flyers with less than four minutes to go. Anaheim was down by three heading into the third period.

The Flyers made it 4-0 just 24 seconds into the third period. Ryan Poehling beat Radko Gudas to the net and scored.

A few minutes later, Matvei Michkov and Gudas mixed it up behind the Anaheim net. Both players got roughing penalties. Gudas took a stick to mouth and apparently a tooth was knocked out as a result.

Matvei Michkov and Garnet Hathaway scored just over a minute apart and the Flyers led 6-0 with about 11 minutes left to go. The Ducks ending up losing 6-0.

Analysis:

Things went from bad to worse in this contest. Following the 6-2 loss in St. Louis, the Ducks then lost 6-0 in Philadelphia. Anaheim gave up two goals in the first period and another in the second period. Once down 3-0 the Ducks could never recover. In the third period the Flyers added three more goals to blowout the Ducks 6-0. This was the first time Anaheim was shut out this season.

For the second game in a row the Ducks got off to a poor start. They were outshot 14 to 7 and found themselves down 2-0. Anaheim actually played better in the second period and outshot Philadelphia 7 to 5, but still were scoreless. A dominant third period by the Flyers turned this game into a blowout win for them.

Anaheim posted a CF% of 43.16% and a FF% of 43.08%. The Ducks put up 41 shot attempts to 54 for the Flyers. Special teams continues to be an issue. The Ducks gave up two power play goals to the Flyers and couldn’t score with their only power play chance in this game. The Ducks need to try to find a way to win without Troy Terry and Trevor Zegras.

Team Notes/Stats:

The Ducks are 0-2-1 without Terry.
