Anaheim did also sign RFA Judd Caulfield today. They also signed A.J. Greer yesterday, who they recently acquired his rights from Florida.

New Defensemen

Jensen played in 61 games for Ottawa and registered 17 total points (4 G + 13 A) during the NHL regular season. He has spent 10 years in the NHL playing 694 games and registering 172 total points (26 G + 146 A). He signed a two year deal with an a $2.25 million AAV.

Woo spent last season with San Jose in the AHL and appeared in 17 games in the AHL with the SJ Barracuda. He spent the previous five season with the Abbotsford Canucks in the AHL. He played in 293 AHL during his time there and registered 86 total points (19 G + 67 A ). He has yet to play in the NHL yet. He signed a two year deal with an AAV of $875,000.

Schueneman last played four games in St. Louis in the 2024-25 season. He didn’t register any points that season in the NHL. He spent last season in the AHL with Hershey Bears. He played 62 games and had 25 total points (5 G + 20 A). He signed a two year deal with an AAV of $875,000.

Travis Mitchell played in nine games with the New York Islanders last season. He scored once in the game against Anaheim. He spent most of last season in the AHL with the Bridgeport Islanders. He played in 58 AHL games and registered 17 total points (1 G + 16 A). He signed a one year deal worth $850,000.

New Forwards

Mallot played in his first full NHL season last year with Los Angeles. He played in 58 games and recorded 9 total points (3 G + 6 A). He saw limited action as a bottom six forward averaging just under nine minutes of ice time. He signed a three year deal with a $1.85 million AAV.

Hamblin last played in the NHL during the 2023-34 season with the Edmonton Oilers. He scored one goal and added an assist in 31 games. He spent the last two seasons in the AHL with Edmonton’s affiliate the Bakersfield Condors. He played in 115 AHL games and registered 86 total points ( 46 G + 40 A). Add Goalie Depth

Brossoit played with the San Jose Sharks last year and appeared in one game which he lost. Overall he has played started in 119 games and has a 64-47-13 record. His career GAA is 2.66 and SV% is .910%. He spent the last two seasons mainly playing the AHL with the San Jose Barracuda and Rockford Icedogs. He signed a one year deal worth $1.1 million.

Analysis

Jensen brings in a veteran presence to the right side of the Ducks blueline. The Anaheim defense saw the departure of Radko Gudas, John Carlson, and more recently Jacob Trouba today. Jensen brings decent size at 6’0″ and 202 pounds. He is a mobile two-way defensemen, who can help offensively, though in a limited capacity. He had knee surgery missing the last 18 games of the season and all the playoffs with Ottawa. It will be interesting to see how he bounces back this season. If he doesn’t work out well, at least he was only signed two years.

Woo also brings good size at 6’0″ and 205 pounds. He is a very good skating two-way defensemen. He is good at back checking and can accelerate through the neutral zone with a good transition game. He has good offensive upside, but seemed to lack production the last few seasons.

Schueneman has good size at 6’0″ about 197 pounds. He has good speed and a high hockey IQ. He is a good puck handling and can quarterback a power play. He hasn’t be able to elevate his defensive game to make it to the NHL full time. He will likely be another depth player bound for San Diego this season.

Mitchell brings big size at 6’4″ 203 pounds. He is physical stay at home defensemen, who isn’t afraid to drop the gloves. He is willing to go into the corners and fight for lose pucks. He could one day be on a third defensive pairing or even a 7th defensemen.

Mallot is a fourth line depth forward. He is a big guy at 6’5″ 215 pounds. He uses his body well and will go into the dirty areas. He can chip in with a goal here and there, but not on regular basis. Sounds like a replacement for Ross Johnston, who signed with St. Louis today.

Hamblin has proven at he can score at the AHL, but it has translated to the NHL level. He is good in the face-off circle posting a 53.5% winning percentage. If he is on the Anaheim roster at the start of the season, then he will likely find home as the 4th line center.

Brossoit is a depth signing for the Ducks, who lost Petr Mrazek during the season due to injury. Brossoit will likely play in San Diego as Ville Husso did a solid job playing behind Lukas Dostal.

Overall, none of these signings will really move the needle for Anaheim. Most of this players are depth signings to fill a void in the organization. Jensen is the one in this group who could have the most impact on the NHL roster this upcoming season. Malott and Hamblin could make the lineup on the 4th line. Brossoit may see some time in Anaheim in the event of an injury to Dostal or Husso.

Ducks Current Roster and Cap Situation

The Ducks currently have about $36 million in cap space according to Puck Pedia. General Manager Pat Verbeek still has RFAs Leo Carlsson, Cutter Gauthier, Tyson Hinds, and Pavel Mintyukov to sign.

Jacob Trouba signed with San Jose today, Jeffrey Viel signed with Tampa Bay, and Ross Johnston signed with St. Louis.
