Friedman Interviews Carlsson’s Agents

Leo Carlsson‘s agents Matt and Ryan Keator sat down to discuss the negotiation process with the Anaheim Ducks and General Manager Pat Verbeek. They provided an updated timeline of how the talk went during the season and into summer.
September 2025
Verbeek made an offer in the area of 8 years with a $10.5 AAV, which the agents turned down.
October 2025 – January 2026
Discussions continued for a few months and then were tabled in January for the rest of the season. Agents stated they pushed to delay talks.
May 2026
After Ducks were eliminated from the playoffs, Verbeek said he wanted to deal with Carlsson and Gautheir done soon. He started talking to Leo’s Agents again.
June 2026
In the beginning of June, the Keators met with Carlsson’s family to discuss his future contract. On June 30th, 7-8 teams expressed interest in Carlsson.
July 2026
On July 1st, the Philadelphia Flyers made their offer sheet. There were more discussions with Verbeek according to Elliotte Friedman, but Carlsson signed the offer sheet on July 3rd. The Ducks matched the offer sheet on July 9th.
