Practice Report: Shaw Called Up
By Michael Walters
It’s Thanksgiving today and the Anaheim Ducks are still practicing as their prepare for their annual Black Friday showdown against the Chicago Blackhawks tomorrow.
Logan Shaw was spotted today at practice. He was called up by Anaheim and took part in the line rushes on the fourth line. It appears the rest of the forward lines remained the same. Shaw was acquired when the Ducks traded Michael Sgarbossa to the Florida Panthers for him. This season Shaw has recorded six points(4G + 2A) in 13 games with the Springfield Thunderbirds of the American Hockey League (AHL). Shaw was tied for the team lead in goals scored and ranked third in shots on net (30).
Sami Vatanen was on the ice today at practice. He played the first period in the game against the Islanders but then had to leave due to an illness. Anaheim could have used Vatanen badly in the shootout that went 14 rounds. Anaheim rallied to force overtime but lost 3-2 in the shootout.
