Henry and Susan Samueli Continue To Pay Employees
By Michael Walters
Yesterday the NHL suspended the season due to the growing threat of the COVID-19 virus.
Last night we were contacted by several Honda Center employees and Anaheim Ducks representatives that told us Henry and Susan Samueli would continue to pay both full and part-time employees workers their wages through the end of March 31.
In an email sent yesterday, the owners stated, “First and foremost, our goal is to preserve the livelihood of all employees where possible.” We posted this yesterday once we received the news and confirmed it.
When the league made its decision to suspend play, we were concerned for the employees at Honda Center and other arena employees nationwide as various sporting venues were closing their doors to all events temporarily. These employees are hard-working people and many of them depend on their jobs as their main source and sometimes their only source of income.
I want to personally thank Henry and Susan Samueli for taking care of the Honda Center employees. I have built friendships with several employees over the years. Additionally, there are members of the DucksNPucks staff that work for the Honda Center and/or the Anaheim Ducks. I am glad they will be compensated during this unforeseen situation.
Hopefully, other sports owners take note of what the Samuelis are doing and follow suit.
