Looking to get married, but can’t find a place to hold a ceremony? You don’t have to look any farther than the Honda Center.

Many weddings were postponed due to COVID-19 leaving couples to scramble to either wait for a later date or to try to find a location to hold a small ceremony.

Solution? Hugh Nguyen, the Orange County Clerk-Recorder, stepped in looking for an alternate location. In an interview with Nguyen, he said he first thought about trying a movie theater location, but none of them were available.

He ended up borrowing three ticket booths from the OC Fairgrounds and then he decided to contact the Anaheim Ducks since they had a large parking lot he said. The Ducks organization jumped on board and helped Nguyen make a small make-shift Wedding Chapel in the Honda Center parking lot. The Anaheim Ducks also added a background with the words “Hitched at Honda Center.”

At first, approximately sixty marriages could be conducted in a day as the ceremonies only take a few minutes. Due to the demand, Nguyen said three more booths were added today and up to 132 marriages can be conducted daily starting on Monday, April 27th.

Public marriage licenses cost $61 and confidential ones are $66. The ceremony costs $28 and one witness is allowed to be present per couple.

For more information, you can call 714-834-2740 or visit the OC Recorder website.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County

During the week the Honda Center has been using their parking lot for Weddings and during the weekend it serves as a location for people in need of food.

The Ducks organization has allowed the Second Harvest Food Bank to conduct a drive-through food pantry in the Honda Center parking lot on Saturdays between 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. or until supplies last. So far to date, the Second Harvest has distributed food to more than 21,000 cars and households per a Ducks press release.

The new Great Park Ice, which is one of the largest ice facilities in the nation, has also been made available to Second Harvest by the Ducks. The location has been turned into a temporary food bank food storage facility for Second Harvest. It will serve as a staging area and is only about five minutes from Second Harvest’s Distribution Center.
