At the Select-A-Seat Event, held on June 11th at Honda Center, General Manager Bob Murray revealed that Ryan Kesler had hip surgery. Murray stated that the recovery time was going to be about 12 weeks or three months. At that time it was expected that Kesler would be ready to go at the beginning of the season.

Kesler told reporters on Tuesday that he could possibly be out four to five months, according to NHL.com. Kesler has been seen at the airport and in Las Vegas wearing a hip brace and crutches. He is going to be reevaluated in three months.

From NHL.com:

“It’s going to take awhile,” Kesler said on the eve of the 2017 NHL Awards and NHL Expansion Draft presented by T-Mobile. “Gotta be patient with that. … It [stinks], but it had to be done.”

The Ducks could also be without Hampus Lindholm at the start of the season. It was reported by Swedish news that Lindholm could be out 5-6 months, which is about 1-2 months longer than the original projection. Murray did state at the Select-A-Seat event that Lindholm was progressing well.

Sami Vatanen also had shoulder surgery recently and he is expected to have a long recovery time as well. Vatanen could also miss part of the beginning of the season, but it has rumored that he will be traded soon by several reports. He has also been exposed in the Expansion Draft which will take place around 5 PM PT in Las Vegas today.
