Ducks Sign Badini & Drew

The Anaheim Ducks signed Jack Badini and Hunter Drew to entry-level contracts(ELC) per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.

Jack Badini

Forward Jack Badini signed a two-year, entry-level contract worth $1,630,000 with an AAV of $815,000 per Cap Friendly. The deal contains $20K in performance bonuses for the 2020-21 season.

A third-round pick from 2017(91st overall), Badini has spent the last three years playing at Harvard University. This past year he registered 14 total points(6 goals + 8 assists). He had an on-ice rating of +5 and 10 penalty minutes.

His point totals were down this past year, but he still has shown that he can produce offensively. Badini is a physical player at 6 feet tall, 203 pounds, who can slot in as both at the center and left-wing positions. He plays a solid two-way game but needs more time developing into a  consistent offensive threat.

Hunter Drew

Defenseman Hunter Drew signed a three-year, entry-level contract worth $2,379,999 with an AAV of $793,333 per Cap Friendly. There are no performance bonuses for this contract.

A sixth-round pick in 2018 (178th overall), Drew played in 29 games with the San Diego Gulls last season. He registered 7 total points(2 goals + 5 assists). He had an on-ice rating of +6 and 33 penalty minutes.

Drew is another big player listed at 6’2″ and 192 pounds. He is good at handling the puck and protecting it. He can make good passes when exiting the defensive zone and uses his body to clear out opponents in front of the net. He needs to work on his skating and positioning, but he has been compared by some to be similar to Josh Manson as a stay-at-home defenseman.
